KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - Truman State Men's basketball picked up a win against Cedarville in the last game of the GLVC/G-MAC Challenge. The Bulldogs won 86-80 to move to 1-1 on the year.
The Bulldogs held a nine-point lead going into the half, with the help of 16 bench points and 13 points off of turnovers.
The Yellow Jackets of Cedarville slowly made their way back into the game, and took a two-point lead over the Bulldogs with 12:50 left in the game. Cedarville also went up by nine at the 5:54 mark, but Truman took the lead back with a huge Trey Shearer 3-pointer with 3:52 remaining. An Xavier Hall layup with under a minute left put the Bulldogs up seven and iced the game. The Bulldogs hit seven free throws in the final 30 seconds to seal the victory.
Trey Shearer led Truman in scoring with 21, along with four rebounds, three assists, and a steal.
Brennan Lovette and Blaise Porter also hit the double-digit scoring mark with 14 and 13. Lovette recorded five rebounds, two assists and a steal while Porter had four rebounds, four assists, and a steal as well.
Casen Lawrence scored nine points, and three other Bulldogs had seven. Kobi Williams had six points and Joe Knutson got on the board with two.
The Bulldogs hit the road for a battle with Emporia State University on Wednesday, November 15th, at 6:30 p.m.
