KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - The Bulldogs of Truman State travel to Peoria, Illinois to take on the Bradley Braves from the Missouri Valley Conference in an exhibition contest.
Truman State is coming off a 94-88 loss to Pittsburg State and a 77-63 victory against Central Missouri in Las Vegas.
Against Pitt State, Truman led 17-14 with 12:46 left in the first-half, but the Gorillas slowly took the lead and went into the break up 47-37. The three-point lead was the last time the Bulldogs would be up the rest of the game.
Pitt State was up by 14 with 9:52 left, and Truman slowly chipped away and cut the lead to two with 2:07 left.
The Gorillas hit two free throws at the 1:30 mark before CE Talton made two at the line to get it back to a two-point game. Pitt State made four more free throws in a row to take a 92-86 lead with 0:19 left. Talton made a layup with 0:12 remaining to cut the lead to two, but Pitt State responded with a dunk four seconds later to put the game away.
Brennan Lovette led Truman in scoring with 19 points on 8-11 shooting. He went 3-4 from three and had three rebounds along with a steal.
CE Talton was right behind him with 18 while going 7-12 from the field. He had a team-high seven boards with four assists and three steals.
Xavier Hall and Kobi Williams also had double-digit points, with Hall having 12 and Williams with 11. Hall led the team in assists with six and Williams had three rebounds, four assists, a block, and two steals.
Against UCM, the Bulldogs went into the break up of 32-27, where Truman found themselves leading by 10 with 1:57 remaining before the Mules were able to cut the lead to five. Xavier Hall was tied with UCM's Raeshaun Ambris in first-half points with eight. Truman shot 12-23 from the field and 6-14 from three. Central Missouri was 8-21 and just 3-11 from behind the arc.
UCM's Jalen Knott hit a jumper 56 seconds into the second-half made it a 32-29 game, but Truman went on an 11-0 run from the 18:09 mark to 15:19 to go up 14. The deficit was too much for the Mules to handle, and the Bulldogs cruised to a 14-point victory to wrap up their play in the desert. The Bulldogs outscored UCM 45-36 in the second-half, shooting 15-23 from the field and 5-10 from three. CE Talton, Brennan Lovette, and Kobi Williams all had double-digit points in the second-half, with Talton leading the way with 14.
Kobi Williams and CE Talton were Truman's top scorers, with both dropping 16. Williams had two rebounds, five assists, and two steals while Talton had a steal.
Brennan Lovette was one point behind Williams and Talton, scoring 15 on 5-7 shooting. Lovette grabbed four boards and had two assists.
Xavier Hall was Truman's final double-digit scorer, having 14 points. Hall had four rebounds, seven assists, and two steals.Â
Landon Eiland had a team-high nine rebounds, also having three points, three assists, one block, and one steal.
Following Truman's win against Central Missouri, Jeff Horner moved past Don Faurot in all-time wins with 93, having been tied with Faurot at 92 since December 2nd.
For Bradley, their last game was a 75-64 win against SIUE at home on 12/21, where Duke Deen led all scoring with 27 on 10-17 shooting and 7-12 from three.
Malevy Leons had a double-double, scoring 10 and grabbing 10 boards. Demarion Burch had a team-high four assists and Leons also had a leading two blocks and three steals.
Leons leads the team in scoring with 14.2 points per game, followed by Connor Hickman with 13.5, Deen with 11.8, and Darius Hannah with 11.4.
Leons also leads the squad in rebounds with 7.5, followed by Hannah with 6.6 and Christian Davis with 5.1.
Hickman is the leader in assists with 3.3, with Deen right behind with 3.2.
