BENTONVILLE, Ark. - The Truman Softball team split a pair of games in their season debut on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs lost 12-0 to Southern Arkansas but bounced back with a 3-1 win over Southeastern Oklahoma State. Truman will face Northeastern (Okla.) State and the University of Arkansas Monticello on Sunday starting at 11 a.m.

Game 1:

Southern Arkansas 12, Truman State 0 (5 Innings)

The season had an auspicious start as the Bulldogs were no-hit 12-0 in the opener. 

The Muleriders took the early lead on a home run in the bottom of the first then exploded for 11 runs in the second inning.

Game 2:

Truman State 3, Southeastern Oklahoma State

The Bulldogs turned things around in the second game of the day. Emily Wood began her Truman career with a solo home run to lead off the bottom of the first inning. Cassie Smith followed with a triple to right filed. She would score on an RBI single by Cameryn Patterson to put Truman up 2-0. 

Southeastern got a run back on a double in the second inning.

Starter Breianna Klein helped her own cause as she singled in Wood for an insurance run in the fifth.

Klein went the distance to pick up the win and struck out five while allowing just one run on four hits. 

Wood, Smith and Patterson each collected two hits each.
