BAYTOWNE, Fla. - The Truman State Women's Golf team returned from their winter hiatus and opened their spring season at the Emerald Coast Classic near Destin, Florida this week. The Bulldogs improved on their team score in each of their three rounds plays in the ultra-competitive Division II event.
The Bulldogs got out of the gate slowly with a 345 team score after battling some weather issues in the area. On Monday, they shaved four shots off that total for a 341 and Tuesday knocked 18 shots of the previous round with a 323.
Catherine Salem posted the lowest individual round as she carded a 78 on Tuesday and finished with a 54-hole total of 258. Kara Hunt was the individual medalist for the Bulldogs with a 246 (83-83-80). Natalie Fatka was three shots back of Hunt with a 249 (83-87-80), followed by Salem then Reese Stovall at 261 (92-84-85) and Jordan Marshall with a 265 (91-87-87).
The team will travel back to the Missouri for the Midwest Intercollegiate tournament on Monday and Tuesday hosted by the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg at Mules National Golf Club.
