ROLLA, Mo. - Truman State softball played Missouri S&T in a two-game Monday doubleheader, where the Bulldogs were defeated in both games. S&T beat Truman 5-1 in the first game, and 2-1 in the second.

Game One:

The Bulldogs fell behind early in the first game, going down 2-0 in the third after Missouri S&T hit a double and a single.

Alex Beard hit an RBI double to left center in the fourth to score Cassie Smith to make it a 2-1 game.

The Miners added the final three runs of the game in the fourth and fifth innings off a home run and a two-RBI single.

Cassie Smith and Alex Beard each went 2-3 hitting, with Beard's double in the fourth being the only run scored for the Bulldogs.

Annabel Zimmer threw six innings, allowing four earned runs, six hits, and striking out four batters.

Game Two:

Breianna Klein threw a gem in the second game, but was unable to secure the win as the Bulldogs lost 2-1 in extra innings.

Lauren Stade drove in the first run of the game in the first inning, scoring Cameryn Patterson on an RBI single.

Missouri S&T evened the score in the sixth by scoring on a fielding error, and walked the game off in the eighth when Emma Vaughn scored the winning run on a fielder's choice.

Klein threw 7.1 innings, giving up one earned run and six hits. She struck out three Miner batters and only walked one.

Truman plays their first home games of the 2023 Season Thursday, March 23rd against Upper Iowa at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
