KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - Truman State softball swept future GLVC opponent Lincoln (Mo.) in a Tuesday doubleheader 8-0 (five innings) and 2-0.
Game One:
Annabel Zimmer and Breianna Klein threw a combined two-hit shutout in game one that was won by run rule in five innings.
Truman scored in the first, third, and fourth innings for the 8-0 win.
Cameryn Patterson got it going in the first with an RBI single, then came around to scored on a dropped third strike.
Maria McGonegle hit an RBI single in the third, Patterson hit a double to scored Emily Eberwine in the fourth, and McKenzie West hit a three-RBI double in the fourth inning to market 8-0.
Zimmer threw four innings, allowing no runs and only two hits. Klein threw in the fifth to end the game.
Game Two:
The Bulldogs scored two runs in the win, with an Alex Beard RBI double in the third and a Maria Taylor single that scored Brooke Nutter.
Breianna Klein threw a complete-game shutout, giving up six hits in the 25 batters she faced.
Macy Taylor and Brooke Nutter both went 2-3 at the plate.
Emily Eberwine, Alex Beard, and Nina Fenasci all hit a double in the game.
Truman softball goes to UIndy and McKendree this weekend.
