ELSAH, Ill. – The Truman State Tennis teams split a pair of non-conference duals on Saturday in the St. Louis area. The Bulldogs lost 5-4 to Principia (Ill.) College but rebounded with a 4-3 win over Missouri Baptist. The team will be back in action on March 20
th against Central (Iowa) College.
Against Principia, Truman found themselves down a point following losses at one and two doubles but a win by
Calli Hepfinger and
Sydney Dial at number three.
The teams would split the six singles match which would give Principia the match win.
Julia Fangman won at number three and Dial and Hepfinger took matches at five and six.
Moving to the afternoon, the Bulldogs fell in doubles in the two contested bouts and entered singles play down 1-0.
Hepfinger was awarded a team point with a walkover win at number six. Fangman won in straight sets at number three and Dial won again at number five. The match hinged on the top singles spot where
Allie Brown won the third set tiebreaker 10-3 to pull out the final team point and the win.
