CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Bulldog Tennis team swept a pair of non-conference matches on Sunday. Truman State defeated Coe 6-3 before taking out Cornell 9-0 to improve to 9-5 overall with the conference season looming next weekend.
The day began with the Bulldogs sweeping through doubles against the Kohawks 3-0 to grab the match lead. Allie Brown took number one singles 6-3, 7-5 and Samantha Seggerman won at number three by identical 6-3, 6-3 set wins. The other singles win came at number five with Sydney Dial winning 6-3, 6-2.
Moving to the nightcap, the Bulldogs stayed strong as again the doubles teams picked up all three matches with Seggerman and Julia Fangman winning 8-3 at one, Brown and Abbi Worster 8-4 at number two and Calli Hepfinger and Kennidy Shirey 8-3 at number three.
All six singles matches went via straight sets in favor of the 'Dogs with Seggerman needing to win a first set tie-breaker 7-6 (7-3) before taking set two 6-3.
Truman will be on the road to open Great Lakes Valley Conference action when they face Southwest Baptist and Drury on March 31 and April 1.
