KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - Four Truman State baseball seniors were honored before their final game of the 2023 season where they fell 11-9 to McKendree.
Tucker Olson, Jack Darwin, Dakota Spicer, and Holden Missey played their last game of collegiate baseball for Truman State University.
The first of 20 total runs was scored in the first when senior Jack Darwin hit an RBI double to bring home fellow senior Holden Missey.
McKendree took the lead back after scoring nine answered in the third, fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh innings to lead 9-1.
The Bulldogs went on a scoring spree in the seventh and eighth, putting up eight runs. In the seventh, Luke Turner was walked with the bases loaded, Simon Murray scored on a wild pitch, and Darwin, senior Dakota Spicer, and Will Fromm all walked with the bases loaded.
Truman scored three in the eighth with a Holden Missey RBI single and Darwin driving in Missey and Tal Dean with a single up the middle.
The Bearcats scored twice in the top of the ninth to come out on top.
Truman State won three games against McKendree, taking the series 3-1.
Jack Darwin had a phenomenal game to finish his Truman career, going 3-3 with two doubles, four RBI, and a walk.
Luke Turner, Holden Missey, Dakota Spicer, and Will Fromm each had an RBI. Missey scored three times, and Tal Dean scored twice.
Senior Tucker Olson threw one inning, allowing two hits and one earned run with two strikeouts.
The Bulldogs went 19-31 in 2023, increasing the 2022 win total by one. Truman went 9-23 in GLVC play.
