Truman Women With Convincing Win Over Quincy 3-0 On Friday

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Bulldog Women's Soccer team prevailed over Quincy 3-0 on Friday afternoon at Stokes Stadium to pick up their first Great Lakes Valley Conference win of the season. The team returns to the pitch on Sunday hosting Illinois Springfield at 2:30 p.m.

Lia Quintero blasted a shot into the net just 13 minutes into the match to open the scoring. It was Quintero's second goal of the season and was a rocket from 25-yards out after a feed from Casey Hansen. Later in the half, Gianna Gorman hit the left post off a crossing pass.

Quincy had the shot advantage in the first half with 10 total shots and eight on goal. They had a great chance midway through the second half, but the shot was punched over the crossbar by Tatum Damron.

Emma Thompson recorded her second goal of the season following a foul deep in the Hawks area. Gorman served the free kick into the penalty area and Thompson punched it into the low left corner to make it 2-0 Bulldogs.

Gorman got in on the scoring in the 79th minute as she was selected to take a penalty following a Quincy hand ball in the box. She converted successfully and the Bulldogs went on to rout the Hawks 3-0.

Shots finished 20-11 in favor of the visitors and 12-5 on goal.
