GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport Panthers got goals in the 69th and 78th minutes to defeat the Truman State Women on Sunday by a 2-0 score. The Bulldogs will visit Missouri Southern State University in Joplin on Friday evening before their home opener next Sunday against Winona (Minn.) State.
Just like on Friday, Truman and their opponents played scoreless in the first 45 minutes of action with the only shot on goal coming in the 21st minute by Davenport's Madison Fans that was corralled by Tatum Damron.
The chances picked up in the second half but it was mostly done by the home team. Davenport registered 13 total shots with eight on net in the final 45 minutes. Haley Diekevers scored her second goal of the season on a pass by Gabby Scholten to give DU a 1-0 lead.
Under 10 minutes later, Ainsley Oliver scored an unassisted goal for an insurance tally.
