SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - A promising start quickly turned on the Truman State Women as they fell at Illinois Springfield 75-56 on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs will return home for a pair of conference games next Thursday and Saturday.
The Bulldogs jumped out scoring seven of the first nine points of the game and were up 9-4 at the midway point of the first quarter but Illinois Springfield finished the quarter on a 15-4 run and didn't take the foot off the gas the rest of the way.
The Prairie Stars out rebounded the Bulldogs 53-39 with a 27-12 advantage on the offensive glass and were a plus-10 in the turnover stat leading to 84 total shots to Truman's 59.
The third quarter saw UIS put up 29 points with 24 shot attempts to the Bulldogs' eight.
Maddie Niemeier and Molly Joyce led the Bulldogs in scoring with 11 points apiece.Â
UIS got 14 each from Jessenia Lawson and Kayla Rice.
