MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Truman State Track & Field teams returned to action after a month layoff and competed at the Richard Alsup Open at Northwest Missouri State University on Saturday.
Thrower Jacob Morris posted the highest individual finish with a second place showing in his signature indoor event, the weight throw. Morris busted a 19.48 meter toss on his second attempt of the day. He was leading through the first three rounds but Nebraska-Kearney's Alex Goracke unleashed a 19.94 meter throw in round four. Morris finished with four straight fouls. He would place eighth in the Shot Put.
Addie Mathis had a big race in the women's mile as she set a new personal best time of 5:02.48 to place third overall. Her previous best was 5:07.04. Lexy Henrikson was fifth with a time of 5:09.22.
Kelly Hoskins placed fifth in the Pole Vault after clearing 4.01 meters.
Kate Yates set a new PR in the women's 3000 meter run. Yates ran 10:47.10 to finish sixth in the race with teammate Cora Stimpson on her heels in seventh position and a time of 10:48.59.
In the relays, the women' placed fifth with a time of 4:07.36 with a team comprised of Mathis, Kendall Dascher, Henrikson and Raina Baker. The men's top team of Cooper Doolin, Gavin Hill, Nolan Meara and Brycen Compton ran 3:32.39 and placed seventh.
The Bulldogs will send some athletes to either the Dutch Winter Multis at Central (Iowa) College or the Black and Gold Invite at the University of Iowa next week.
