KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - Truman State Women's Soccer downed Lincoln (Mo.) 2-0 on Friday afternoon at Stokes Stadium earning three points towards the conference standings with three regular season matches remaining. The Bulldogs will close out the home portion of their schedule on Sunday at noon with a match against Missouri S&T.
Truman's early pressure off the opening kickoff resulted in an own goal by the Blue Tigers just a minute and a half into the contest. Quinn Nauman centered the ball that deflected off the defender and into the net for the 1-0 lead.
Melanie Smith scored just seconds after entering the match in the 24th minute as she took a pass from Jessica Kozal and slid it past the the Lincoln keeper for the insurance goal.
Tatum Damron stopped all five shots headed her way for the clean sheet as Truman improved to 4-6-4 overall and 3-5-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
