KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - The Bulldog Women's Soccer teams got goals from Emma Thompson and Julia Behounek to pick up a key 2-0 win over Missouri S&T in a Great Lakes Valley Conference matchup on Sunday. The Bulldogs will continue their pursuit of a conference tournament spot in the final weekend of the regular season with a pair of games in the St. Louis area.
Thompson scored her third goal of the season as she got a flick on a corner kick serve from Emma Thiessen in the 28th minute of play.
The insurance tally was Behounek's first collegiate goal. Quinn Nauman dribbled down to the end line on the left side before centering a pass that Behounek pushed past the Miners' keeper in the 76th minute.
The Bulldogs had a distinct advantage in shots by a 17-8 margin with a 13-2 margin in shots on goal. Truman State had three solid scoring opportunities in the first 10 minutes of the contest.
The Bulldogs improve to 4-5-3 in the GLVC with 15 points and sit in a cluster of three teams vying for the eighth spot in the league's postseason tournament.
The team will be at Maryville on Friday afternoon before wrapping up the regular season next Sunday at Missouri-St. Louis. The Saints currently lead the GLVC with 31 points and the Tritons are fourth with 23 points.
