KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - In desperation mode, the Truman Men's Soccer team earned a 1-1 tie with Missouri S&T on Sunday with a tying goal in the 89th minute of play.
The Miners got on the scoreboard in the 52nd minute on an own goal by the Bulldogs. A free kick was sent from the right side of the field and a Bulldog defender stepped in front of keeper Justin Olwig and accidentally headed the ball into the net.
Panic mode set in as the clock ticked down but with 1:24 seconds left, a throw in from the right side of the field found Landon Keisker in the middle of the 18-yard box and in turn, he flicked it over to Tyler Bouckaert. The freshman slid a shot into the right corner of the net for his first collegiate goal and tied the game.
The point earned has the Bulldogs sitting ninth in the league standings just one out of a top eight spot with two matches left in the regular season.
Truman will be at Maryville on Friday afternoon and Missouri-St. Louis on Sunday. The Saints are currently fourth in the conference race with 23 points and will be looking to lock down a home first round match. The Tritons are a point behind the Bulldogs with 12 and two outside a tournament spot.
The Bulldogs have 13 points and trail Quincy and Lincoln, each with 14 points and Drury with 15 points with six points available in the final two matches.
