KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Indianapolis Greyhounds rallied with wins in the fourth and fifth sets to down the Truman State Volleyball team 3-2 on Friday night. The Bulldogs will host Lewis (Ill.) University on Saturday for Senior Day at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
UINDY grabbed the 1-0 lead with a 25-17 win in the opener while Truman battled back and throttled the Greyhounds 25-13 in the second set. The Bulldogs rode the momentum into the third set and scored the final five points of the set to win 25-23.
The Greyhounds raced out to a 6-1 lead in the fourth set and kept Truman State at bay with a 25-16 win to force the tie-breaker.
Truman led 8-5 in the fifth but UINDY scored three straight to tie it. The Bulldogs won the ninth point, but it may have been costly. The Greyhounds challenged the call and after nearly five minutes the point stood in favor of the Bulldogs. However, the lengthy delay zapped the mojo for Truman State and the Greyhounds scored the next four points to go up 12-9. The Bulldogs could not recover and UINDY took the fifth 15-12.
Michaela Goad and
Autumn Erickson each had 13 kills while
Jessie Julius finished with 12.
Emma Baierl finished with 19 assists and 11 digs. The downside for Truman State was the 15 service errors on the night, many coming in key situations.
It was the 12
th fifth-set match the Bulldogs have played this season.
