Bulldogs Suffer Close Loss In Series Finale

TOPEKA, Kan. - Truman State baseball took a 4-3 loss in the final game of their series against Washburn.

Dakota Joggerst scored the first run of the game in the second inning after Colin Mueth reach on an error. Truman's Tal Dean drove Will Fromm on a ground out to first to make it a 2-0 game. Jett Buck of Washburn hit a solo home run in the bottom of the second to make it a 2-1 game.

Washburn took a 3-2 lead in the fourth when Hayden Priest hit a two-run home run.

In the seventh inning, Luke Turner tied the game up when he scored Tyler Tieman with an RBI single.

With one out in the bottom of the eighth, Washburn scored the game winning run with an RBI single.

Luke Turner had a team-high two hits, with one being a double. Turner also drove in two runs and got hit a pitch.

Tal Dean went 1-4 with an RBI and a walk.

Colin Mueth had Truman's third RBI in a 1-2 day at the plate. Mueth got walked and stole a base.

As a team, Truman had eight hits and no errors.

Zachry Schneider had another solid performance on the mound, throwing 7.1 innings with four earned runs. He allowed 12 hits, struck out two batters, and recorded no walks.

Justin Maloney and Brian Bruxvoort both threw a third of an inning in the eighth, with Maloney allowing a hit and walking a batter. Bruxvoort struck out the only batter he faced, and neither allowed a run.

The Bulldogs go down south to Huntsville, Ala. for three games against Alabama-Huntsville on February 24-25.
