Bulldogs Take Two Losses Against Alabama-Huntsville

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Truman State baseball dropped their first two games of the series against Alabama-Huntsville 7-6 and 

Game One:

Truman State jumped out to a 4-0 lead after five innings. In the first inning, Luke Turner got it started with an RBI double and Dylan Thompson hit an RBI dobuble. Dylan Thompson hit a home run in the third to make it a 3-0 game, then Luke Turner hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth that brought Colin Mueth home.

The UAH Chargers stormed back in the fifth and sixth innings to make it a 4-4 game.

Will Fromm hit an RBI single in the eighth that scored Dylan Thompson to give the Bulldogs the lead.

The Chargers took the lead one again, scoring three runs in the eighth inning to take a 7-5 lead.

Tyler Tieman scored the last run of the game in the ninth with a solo home run, but it was not enough to take home the win.

Dylan Thompson led the Bulldogs with two hits, both being extra-base hits.

Luke Turner tied Thompson in RBI with two, going 1-3 with a double.

Will From and Tyler Tieman also recorded an RBI in the game.

Tal Dean and Dakota Joggerst both had hits.

Colin Mueth had two stolen bases, and Tal Dean and Dylan Thompson both swiped a bag.

Isaac Epp threw 5.0 innings, allowing two earned runs. Epp struck out four and walked three, giving up six hits.

Alex Leary took the loss, allowing three earned runs with three strikeouts and two walks.

Justin Maloney threw 0.2 innings, getting out both batters he faced.

Game Two:

UAH got out of the gates quick, scoring six runs in the second.

Dakota Joggerst got the Bulldogs on the board in the third with a single that Tal Dean scored on.

The Chargers scored scored six more in the third and fourth, taking a 12-1 lead.

Oliver Degenhardt grounded out to second and Tal Dean scored to give Truman their second run.

UAH scored another run in the sixth, and Grant Beck hit a two-RBI single in the seventh to make it a 14-3 game.

Tal Dean led the team in hits with two along with two runs.

Grant Beck had a team-high two RBI in the game, going 1-4.

Dakota Joggerst went 1-1 with an RBI and two walks, and Oliver Degenhardt recorded an RBI.

Dylan Thompson and Gannon Grieb both had hits in the contest.

The Bulldogs play the Chargers at noon tomorrow to wrap up the series in Alabama.
