ROSEMONT, Ill. –  The Truman Softball team earned a pair of wins today with pitcher Kaylyn Jones earned both wins in the circle. The Bulldogs walked off Wayne (Mich.) State by a 3-2 score and dominated Bemidji (Minn.) State 6-1 in the nightcap.
 
Truman will get a test tomorrow in their first game facing #5 Grand Valley (Mich.). State followed by Minnesota St. Moorhead in the finale.  
 
Truman State 3, Wayne State 2
The Bulldogs were able to turn the tables on an opponent and win in walk-off fashion when they took Friday's opener 3-2 in eight innings over Wayne (Mich.) State.
 
Charlotte Chelich continued her strong start to the season with a one out triple that chased Cassie Smith all the way around the bases for a 1-0 Bulldog lead in the first.
 
A two-out single by Wayne State tied the game in the fourth after Truman stranded a runner at third with one out in the bottom of the third.
 
The Bulldogs loaded the bases in the fourth but came up empty.
 
The Warriors got a clutch two-out single in the top of the sixth that put them up 2-1.
 
With one out in their final at bat, Smith drew a walk. Chelich struck out but Breianna Klein came through with a two out double that had Smith race around to score the tying run.
 
In eighth inning and playing with ghost runner rules, Kaylyn Jones retired the Warriors in order to strand the runner at second.
 
Cali Coombs knocked an infield single for the Bulldogs in their chance that moved up Cameryn Patterson to third base. Following a strikeout, Madi McCarty lifted a fly ball to right field and Patterson tagged up and scored the winning run.
 
Coombs and Chelich had four of the Bulldogs' six hits and Smith drew three walks.
 
Maddie Anderson allowed four hits in five innings of work and Jones pitched the final three allowing just the one hit for the win.
 
Truman State 6, Bemidji State 1
Kaylyn Jones limited the Beavers to only five hits in six innings of work while Breianna Klein locked down the seventh for a 6-1 win over Bemidji State. Nina Fenasci was 3-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored and an RBI.
 
Fenasci scored the first run of the game in the second on an RBI single off the bat of Ryleigh Jones. In the third, the speed of Emily Wood and Cassie Smith resulted in Smith scoring from second following a stolen base.
 
Fenasci followed with a triple to bring in Wood and the 'Dogs led 3-0 after two and a half.
 
The Beavers got one back in their half of the third as an RBI groundout plated one run.
 
Wood belted her third home run of the season in the fifth and Truman's Lily Arndt made the Beavers pay for an error as she brought in two runs on a single up the middle in the sixth.
