ST. LOUIS – The Truman Women's Tennis team went 1-1 on a day trip to St. Louis on Saturday. The Bulldogs lost 9-0 to Principia (Ill.) College and defeated Greenville (Ill.) 5-4.
Against Principia the Bulldogs had narrow losses at number one and number two doubles with
Akansha Negi and
Abbi Worster falling by a break at 8-6 at number one and
Sydney Dial and
Samantha Seggerman falling in a tiebreaker 8-7 (7-4) at number two.
Dial won the first set at number two singles but had to play a super tiebreaker to decide the match and fell 10-7 in the third set.
The Bulldogs scored two doubles points in the match with Greenville with Negi and Worster winning 8-4 at number one and Dial and Seggerman taking an 8-2 win at number two.
Half of the six singles matches needed a third set-tiebreaker with the Bulldogs pulling out two of them for the 5-4 dual win. Dial won in straight sets at number two, Worster grabbed the third set 10-5 at number three and Seggerman helped clinch the win with a 10-8 third set win at number four.
The Bulldogs are 6-5 on the season and will face Missouri Baptist on Friday.
