Truman State Takes Series Loss Against UMSL On Saturday

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - The Missouri-St. Louis Tritons defeated Truman State 9-4 and 7-1 to take the series win against the Bulldogs.

Game One:

Missouri-St. Louis scored eight times in the first two innings, with five coming in the first and three in the second.

Truman State scored four of their own in the third and fourth innings to make it an 8-4 ballgame. In the third, Luke Turner hit a two-run home run to center field that scored Tal Dean and Oliver Degenhardt hit a double to left field that brought Dakota Joggerst home. Tal Dean drove Luke Roussel in with a double to right field to scored Truman's fourth run of the game.

The Tritons scored a ninth run in the top of the seventh in final inning to go up 9-4.

Tal Dean, Luke Turner, Dakota Joggerst, and Oliver Degenhardt had Truman's four hits. Turner had a team-high two RBI, with Dean and Degenhardt having one each.

Dylan Thompson was walked three times and Luke Roussel took first base twice.

Zachry Schneider took the loss, and Even Still threw 2.0 innings with three strikeouts, one walk, one hit, and one earned run.

Game Two:

The Tritons once again took an early lead, hitting home runs in the third and fourth innings to go up 5-0.

Truman's Oliver Degenhardt scored Dylan Thompson with a sacrifice fly to left field for Truman's lone run of the game.

UMSL scored one in the fifth and another in the ninth for a 7-1 win.

Dakota Joggerst had a good game at the plate, going 3-4.

Grant Beck had a 2-4 ballgame, and Dylan Thompson, Oliver Degenhardt, Will Fromm, and Colin Mueth all recorded hits. Degenhardt had Truman's only RBI.

Nate Bartlett took the loss after 3.2 innings and five earned runs. Bartlett struck four out and walked two.

Jordan Marlott threw 1.1 innings with one earned run, Justin Maloney threw 2.0 shutout innings, Jaren Guck threw a scoreless inning, Jackson Mitchell thew 0.1 with an earned run, Luke Wilson and Drew Hnilo threw 0.1 each with no runs allowed to round it out.

The Bulldogs travel to Romeoville, Ill. next for four against the Lewis Flyers March 28-30.
