ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Truman State and Lewis played a high-scoring baseball game, with the Bulldogs falling 11-7.
Luke Turner and Dylan Thompson drove in the first runs of the game in the third inning. Turner scored Tal Dean with a double to right center, then Thompson brought Turner home with a single to center.
The Lewis Flyers scored 11 unanswered runs in the fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth innings.
The Bulldogs scored five more in the top of the ninth to make it an 11-7 game. Grant Beck scored off a Luke Turner sacrifice fly, Dylan Thompson hit an RBI single to center, Dakota Joggerst hit an RBI single of his own, then Will Fromm had a two-RBI double that drove Joggerst and Thompson home.
Tal Dean and Dylan Thompson both had 3-5 days at the plate. Dean scored twice and Thompson had two RBI and a run.
Freshmen Dakota Joggerst and Colin Mueth had two hits each, with Mueth having a double.
Luke Turner, Will Fromm, and Alex Wittenauer all recorded a hit. Turner had a double and was hit by a pitch, and Fromm had a double.
Isaac Epp took his second loss of the season, throwing 5.0 innings with six earned runs.
Jordan Marlott threw 1.2 innings and Drew Hnilo tossed 1.1 innings. Marlott allowed three earned runs and Hnilo allowed two.
The Bulldogs and Flyers play two games tomorrow at noon and 3 p.m.
