JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Truman State softball swept Lincoln (Mo.) in a two-game nonconference matchup.
Game One:
Emily Wood got the scoring started in the top of the third with a three-run home that right field that scored Lily Arndt and Sofia Birkenholz.
The Lincoln Blue Tigers got two back in the bottom of the fourth off a two-RBI single.
Charlotte Chelich drove Wood in in the fifth inning before Truman scored four more runs in the sixth to go up 8-2. Caragan Baker hit an RBI single, Wood tripled down the right field line to bring home two more, and Cali Coombs scored Wood with a single to left.
Lincoln plated two runs in the bottom of the seventh but the Bulldogs were able to hold on for the win.
Emily Wood had a great game, going 3-4 with a career-high five RBI, three runs, a double, and a home run. Wood also recorded a stolen base.
Cameryn Patterson went 2-4, Cali Coombs went 1-3 with an RBI, Breianna Klein had hit with a run and an RBI, Caragan Baker recorded an RBI, and Charlotte Chelich drove one in.
Sofia Birkenholz and Lily Arndt also had hits, with Birkenholz scoring once and Arndt crossing home twice.
Madie Anderson took the win after throwing 5.0 innings with two strikeouts, two walks, and two earned runs.
Kaylyn Jones tossed 2.0 innings with a strikeout and two earned runs.
Game Two:
Lincoln took a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning with the help of two singles that drove in three runs.
Cali Coombs cut the Lincoln lead to one in the top of the third with a triple to left field, scoring Cassie Smith and Nina Fenasci. Emily Wood recorded her sixth RBI of the day in the same inning to tie the game up 3-3.
Coombs had her second extra-base hit of the game in the fifth, driving Fenasci and Sofia Birkenholz home in the process to give Truman a 5-3 lead and victory.
Coombs had a season-high four RBI in the game, going 2-3 with a run scored.
Nina Fenasci went 2-3 at the plate with two runs scored.
Emily Wood had a hit and an RBI, with Cameryn Patterson and Caragan Baker also recording a hit.
Charlotte Chelich went 2.0 innings in the circle with two strikeouts, one walk, and three earned runs.
Madie Anderson had her second win of the day after throwing 5.0 innings with one hit allowed and no runs.
