Bulldogs unable to break through against Ft. Hays St., UC-Colo. Springs

FT. HAYS, Kan. - The Bulldog Volleyball team continues to look for its first win of the season after losses against Ft. Hays St. (Kan.) University and University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UC-Colo. Springs).

Falling just shy of getting to a fifth set against Ft. Hays St. to open the day, Truman State pushed UC-Colo. Springs to the limit before falling 15-11 to end the match. The Bulldogs have gone five in four of their eight losses. 

Truman State will look to get its first victory on the season next weekend at the SBU Invitational in Bolivar, Mo.
 

Truman State 1, Ft. Hays St. (Kan.) 3

Truman State looked certain to go the distance against Ft. Hays St. , holding a 23-20 lead late in Set 4, but Ft. Hays St. scored five unanswered to secure the 3-1 victory.

In two separate sets the Bulldogs were able to get to a 17-14 lead but untimely errors in the attack allowed the Tigers to remain close. Ft. Hays St. recorded a .313-.215 attack percentage advantage in the match.

Jessica Proszenyak led the Bulldogs with 17 kills while Tori Creason set the pace in aces, five, and assists, 25.

The loss was the seventh consecutive to open the 2024 campaign for Truman State while Ft. Hays St. ran its record to 4-1.

The Bulldogs (0-8 overall) get to a fifth set for the fourth time this season, but the UC-Colorado Springs (5-3 overall) match-high .409 attack percentage in Set 5 to keep Truman State winless.

Proszenyak again led the Bulldogs in kills with 17. Emma Baierl notched 25 assists with another 16 from Creason.
