KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Truman State Women's Tennis team improved to 4-0 on the season with a 5-2 victory over Central (Iowa) College on Wednesday afternoon at home. The Bulldogs will play host to Missouri Baptist on Friday at 2:30 p.m.
The team claimed the doubles points by rolling through all three matches.
Sydney Dial and
Nayana Malangi won 6-1,
Abbi Worster and
Amelia Willing won 6-4 and
Finley Laforge and
Alayna Dostal were 6-0 winners.
Dial picked up a straight-set win in the top singles spot but Central won at numbers four and five singles to even the team score at two points each.
Malangi was the next match to finish up and she won 6-1, 6-3 to put Truman up 3-2.
The deciding match was number six singles where Willing and Emily Mosley had split the first two sets and were in the midst of a super tie-break when an injury forced a retirement giving Willing the win.
Worster played at number three singles and also had to go to a tie-breaking set. She came out the winner going 6-4, 6-3, 10-6.
