KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - McKendree's Lena Higgins tallied the go-ahead goal with just over 20 minutes left as the Bearcats downed the Truman State women's soccer team 2-1 on a soggy Sunday at Stokes Stadium.
Anna Stiffler for the Bearcats opened the scoring early with her fifth goal of the season just three minutes and change into the match.
The Bulldogs were able to fend off the Bearcat attack the rest of the half before building some offensive momentum of their own in the second.
Jessica Kozol headed in a loose ball early in the second half to level the score. It was her first of the season and came within five minutes from the start of the half.
McKenzie ratcheted the pressure up and Higgins scored her third of the season with 20 minutes left as the teams played through a persistent rain shower.
Tatum Damron made six saves for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs will be on the road at Upper Iowa and Lewis for conference matches next weekend.
