Bulldogs Fall in Road Battle at Lincoln

Jefferson City, Mo. – The Truman State Men's Soccer team came up just short in a back-and-forth contest on Sunday afternoon, falling 3-2 to Lincoln in Great Lakes Valley Conference play at Dwight T. Reed Stadium.

After trailing 1-0 at halftime, the Bulldogs responded with a pair of quick goals early in the second half before the Blue Tigers capitalized late to edge out the win.

Lincoln struck first in the 33rd minute when Santiago Brisco put the hosts on top 1-0, a lead they carried into the break despite several promising Bulldog chances.

Truman came out energized to start the second half and wasted little time flipping momentum. In the 50th minute, Nathan Grewe netted the equalizer to make it 1-1. Just four minutes later, Jacob Panagos converted from the penalty spot to give Truman a 2-1 advantage.

The Bulldogs' lead was short-lived, as Lincoln responded with goals in the 57th and 61st minutes from Joseph Lozano and Kanye Francis to reclaim the lead at 3-2. Despite going down a man in the 70th minute after a red card, Truman continued to push forward, earning eight corner kicks and generating late pressure but couldn't find the tying goal.

Panagos and Grewe each scored their first goals of the season, while Slayton Spencer added two shots on goal off the bench. Goalkeeper Owen Robben made five saves in the match, keeping the Bulldogs within striking distance throughout.
