SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Truman State Women's Tennis team kicked off their spring campaign with a tough 6-1 win over Evangel (Mo.) on Saturday in Springfield. The Bulldogs won all six singles matches to claim the win.
The Valor took the doubles point when they won both the second and third doubles spots by identical 7-5 scores. Sydney Dial and Nayana Malangi took the top doubles match by a 7-5 score.
The top three singles contests were hotly contested. Dial closed out Rachel Chaney by a 6-4, 7-5 score at number one. Malangi won 6-3, 6-4 at number two.Â
Akansha Negi faced a match-point after splitting the first two sets with Lidia Bjelica. Negi was down 8-9 in the super tie-breaker but rallied for the 13-11 win.
Finley Laforge, Mary Grace Seymore and Abbi Worster each won in straight sets for the singles sweep.
The Bulldogs improve to 6-3 on the season in duals and will be back in action on Thursday and Friday in Des Moines, Iowa against Morningside and Grand View.Â
