Truman State men's soccer opened conference play on Sunday afternoon at Key Stadium, dropping a 3–0 decision to the powerhouse University of Indianapolis Greyhounds.
The Bulldogs withstood heavy early pressure from UIndy as goalkeeper Owen Robben came up with multiple big saves in the first half. Robben stopped five shots in the opening 45 minutes, including chances from Colin Elder and Kabiru Gafar, and even watched one attempt rattle off the crossbar. Truman's back line, anchored by Zoran Sabbert and Braden Hannan, battled to keep the game scoreless until the closing moments of the period.
In the 45th minute, however, the Greyhounds finally broke through when Jona Hogle finished a cross from Lucas Bedleg, giving UIndy a 1–0 halftime advantage.
The Greyhounds doubled their lead in the 60th minute. August Abrahamsen found the net off an assist from Joey Longo to make it 2–0. Just five minutes later, Gio Terlizzi added a third with a strike from the top of the box to extend UIndy's lead to 3–0.
Truman created some opportunities in the second half, highlighted by Jacob Panagos hitting the crossbar in the 59th minute and late shots from Frank Robinson and Merritt Gregory. Still, the Bulldogs were unable to break through against UIndy goalkeeper Keerti Unnamatla, who needed just one save to earn the clean sheet.
Robben finished with five saves for Truman, as the Bulldogs dropped to 1-1-1 overall and 0-1-0 in GLVC play.
