The Truman State women's soccer team earned its first win of the season on Sunday with a hard-fought 3–2 road victory over the University of Indianapolis in their Great Lakes Valley Conference opener at Key Stadium.
The Bulldogs wasted no time getting on the board. In just the 5th minute, forward Quinn Nauman converted a chance in close to give Truman an early 1–0 advantage. From there, the Bulldogs continued to push the tempo, generating eight first-half shots and four corner kicks, while goalkeeper Siman Loethen came up with a pair of stops to preserve the lead at halftime.
The match turned quickly after the break. UIndy equalized less than a minute into the second half when Izzie Wallace knocked home a finish off a pair of passes from Morgan Peters and Kendal Waugerman at the 45:11 mark. Just 92 seconds later, the Greyhounds struck again as Ella Higbie converted from close range, suddenly flipping the score in UIndy's favor at 2–1.
Truman answered back in a big way. Midfielder Madison Blomenkamp came off the bench and made an immediate impact, pulling the Bulldogs level in the 64th minute with a strong strike to the right side of goal. Only six minutes later, Blomenkamp struck again. In the 70th minute, she finished a setup from Hanna Ritter to put the Bulldogs ahead 3–2. The brace marked Blomenkamp's first two goals of the season.
From there, Truman's back line held firm. Loethen denied Wallace on a dangerous look in the 73rd minute, and the Bulldogs fended off late pressure to secure the road victory and improve to 1-1-1 overall, while opening up GLVC play with a victory.
