Bulldogs Battle but Fall in High-Scoring Affair to UIS

Truman State men's soccer came up short in a wild match at Stokes Stadium on Sunday afternoon, dropping a 5–3 decision to Illinois Springfield.

The Bulldogs struck first just six minutes in when Jacob Panagos finished to make it 1–0. UIS equalized in the 17th minute through Jero Bencomo and then grabbed the lead late in the first half on Robin Lemke Bergseth's goal assisted by Spencer Martin.

After halftime, UIS extended its advantage as Martin scored himself in the 54th minute. Truman pulled within 3–2 moments later when Tyler Bouckaert netted his first of the year in the 57th minute. But UIS answered with goals from Jack Hudson (65') and Josh Conrad (75') to build a 5–2 cushion.

Panagos converted a penalty in the 79th minute, his second goal of the day, to cap the scoring, but Truman couldn't close the gap further.

The Bulldogs outshot UIS 16–11, including 12 attempts in the second half, and finished with an 8–4 edge in corner kicks. Owen Robben made one save in goal.
