Kirksville, Mo. – The Truman State Women's Soccer team put together a strong weekend at Stokes Stadium, earning a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference victories with a 2-1 win over Lewis on Friday and a 3-1 triumph over Upper Iowa on Sunday. The Bulldogs improved to 3-2-2 overall and 3-1-1 in conference play.
Friday vs. Lewis
Truman wasted no time getting on the board as Quinn Nauman scored in the 17th minute to give the Bulldogs an early lead. Nauman then assisted Ashley Klaus in the 32nd minute, doubling the advantage. Lewis cut into the lead with a goal in the 55th minute, but goalkeeper Siman Loethen made four saves and the defense held firm down the stretch to secure the 2-1 victory.
Sunday vs. Upper Iowa
After falling behind 1-0 in the first half, the Bulldogs came out strong after the break. Aubrey Kaupas tied the match in the 50th minute and then set up Nauman just four minutes later for the go-ahead strike. Madison Blomenkamp added an insurance goal in the 70th minute off an assist from Ellie Semerau to close out a 3-1 win. Truman outshot the Peacocks 22-5 and controlled play with 11 corner kicks.
