Caledonia, Mich. – The Truman State Women's Soccer team kicked off its 2025 campaign on the road with a gritty 1–1 draw against Davenport University at the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex.
The Bulldogs controlled much of the match's tempo, outshooting the Panthers 13–6 and maintaining a 6–2 edge in corner kicks. Despite their dominance, Truman fell behind mid-second half when Davenport's Sofia Capoccia broke through in the 68th minute for the opener.
Unfazed, Truman continued to press. Junior forward Lia Quintero delivered the equalizer in the 85th minute off a pinpoint assist from Quinn Nauman, her first goal of the season, and a fitting culmination of a sustained second-half offensive surge that produced six shots and four corners.
At the back, keeper Siman Loethen was steady. Her three saves ensured the Bulldogs held on as the Panthers pushed late. Veterans Greta Hanson, Ella McCleary, and Avery Bohnenstiehl anchored the defense, while dynamic midfielders Mackenzie Wright and Aubrey Kaupas controlled the middle throughout.
The game's physical edge was evident, with both sides combining for five yellow cards. Yet Truman stood firm under pressure and earned a hard-fought road draw.
With the result, the Bulldogs open the season at 0–0–1.
