KIRKSVILLE- Truman State senior Tori Creason was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference/Athletic Solutions Setter of the Week on Monday after helping the Bulldogs upset No. 21 Indianapolis inside Pershing Arena.
Creason totaled 98 assists and 21 digs across eight sets against UIndy and Lewis. She averaged 12.25 assists and 2.63 digs per set while directing an offense that produced 13.5 kills per set and a .213 hitting percentage.
Her week was highlighted by a career-high 69 assists in Truman's five-set victory over UIndy on Friday. Creason also contributed 14 digs and three kills as the Bulldogs defeated a nationally ranked opponent for the first time during head coach David Gannon's tenure.
Truman won the opening two sets before UIndy forced a fifth. The Bulldogs recovered from an 11-10 deficit and scored the final two points of the match on kills by Jessie Julius and Autumn Erickson to complete the 25-19, 25-15, 22-25, 23-25, 15-13 victory.
Creason surpassed 2,000 career assists during the third set Friday. She added 29 assists against Lewis on Saturday and moved into the top 10 in Truman history with 2,067 career assists.
The award is the first of Creason's career and makes her the first Bulldog to receive the GLVC Setter of the Week honor.
Truman returns to conference play Friday, Oct. 2, at Missouri-St. Louis. The match begins at 6 p.m. The Bulldogs continue their road trip Saturday with a 3 p.m. match at McKendree.
