Bulldogs Soccer Park, located next to Campbell Apartments on Truman State University’s campus, serves as the home facility for Truman men’s and women’s soccer.
The complex has been part of the Bulldog soccer story since 1983, when the program moved from Stokes Stadium to its own dedicated soccer facility.
Truman soccer began with its home matches at Stokes Stadium in the late 1970s before moving to the Truman Soccer Complex in 1983. The original complex featured two natural grass fields, one for competition and one for practice, running in an east-west direction. Early facility features included fan seating on the north side of the complex, aluminum bleachers with room for approximately 250 spectators, the ability to add portable bleachers for larger crowds, a wooden press box above the seating area and team bench areas located on the south side of the playing field.
The move gave Bulldog soccer a permanent home and helped support the growth of the program into one of Truman Athletics’ most successful traditions. Since its opening, the facility has hosted generations of Bulldog student-athletes and has served as the primary outdoor venue for the university’s soccer programs.
In 2009, Bulldogs Soccer Park received its first electronic scoreboard, enhancing the game day experience for student-athletes, coaches and fans.
Around 2010, several facility improvements were made to better support training, competition and field operations. New stairs and nets were added behind the goals, and a ball shed was purchased to give the programs additional storage space near the complex.
In 2011, a new sprinkler and drainage system was installed, creating a major improvement in field maintenance and playability. The system allowed the natural grass surface to be maintained more efficiently and helped the field drain much faster following rain.
A significant facility upgrade followed in 2019 with the addition of a new press box and new bleachers along the near side of the field. The project improved spectator seating, increased safety and provided a better working location for sports information staff, game day operations, public address, statistics and media coverage.
As broadcast and video needs continued to grow, a Hudl Focus camera system was later added to the facility. The camera enhanced the live broadcast viewing experience while also giving the coaching staffs a valuable tool for reviewing game and practice film.
During the 2020s, field condition issues forced the Bulldog soccer teams to temporarily move home contests to Stokes Stadium. In response, Truman Athletics made a considerable investment into the soccer playing surface in 2025 and 2026, allowing the teams to resume competition at Bulldogs Soccer Park.
As part of the renewed investment in the facility, a new electronic scoreboard was also installed. The upgraded scoreboard includes electronic team names, shots on goal tracking and the Bulldog arch design that has become part of Truman Athletics’ updated scoreboard branding across campus, beginning with baseball in 2023.
In the summer of 2026, permanent technology infrastructure was added to the facility with the installation of a hardwired POE switch and wireless access points. These upgrades strengthened the park’s broadcast and operations capabilities while supporting the growing technology needs of the soccer programs and game day staff.
Bulldogs Soccer Park continues to serve as the dedicated home of Truman soccer, combining the history of the program’s longtime campus facility with improvements in field quality, seating, scoreboard presentation, broadcast capability and game day operations.
