(KIRKSVILLE, Mo.) – Sophomore forward Andy Chapman recorded Truman's first hat trick since August of 2008, and the Bulldog team exploded for six goals in the second half on the way to a 7-0 rout of Maryville (Mo.) University on Friday afternoon at the Truman Soccer Park.

Chapman (St. Louis, Mo., Fort Zumwalt South) got the Bulldogs on the board off a double assist by seniors Bobby Larkin (St. Louis, Mo., Parkway) and Matt Kimball (Kirkwood, Mo., Kirkwood) in the game's 15th minute, but the Bulldogs couldn't convert on any of its other 17 first-half chances before opening the floodgates in the second 45 minutes.

Chapman scored again in the 48th minute, heading a Larkin pass into the corner of the net before junior Charlie Backus (St. Louis, Mo., CBC) and Kimball scored within three and a half minutes of each other in the 54th and 58th minutes to open the gap to 4-0.

Only a few minutes later, senior Dan Meagher (Chesterfield, Mo., SLU High) made it 5-0 in the 62nd minute off Larkin's third assist of the game before Chapman rocketed a shot into the bottom left corner of the net off a Jonathan Brown (Perth, Scotland, Auchterarder) feed in the 64th to make it a six-goal margin.

Senior Robbie Narrow (Kirkwood, Mo., Kirkwood) then added the game's final exclamation point, converting off feeds from freshmen Dylan Carter (O'Fallon, Mo., Fort Zumwalt West) and Jacob Schrier (Peoria, Ariz., Mountain Ridge) in the 84th minute for the 7-0 finish.

Chapman's hat trick ran his season goal total to four and marked the first trifecta in a single-game for a Bulldog since Larkin opened the 2008 season with a hat trick in a 5-0 Truman win against Northeastern State on Aug. 28, 2008. The Bulldogs took 32 shots, 11 on net, and had seven corner kicks.

Sophomore keeper Tyler Knierim (Hartsburg, Mo., Southern Boone) earned the win in net, going nearly 73 minutes before giving way to freshman Nick Wallner (St. Louis, Mo., SLU High), who recorded his first collegiate save in the final 17 minutes of action.

The team's seven goals also marked the most for the squad since the 2005 season, when the Bulldogs defeated Upper Iowa, 8-0, on Sept. 25, 2005.

Truman (4-2) will travel to Missouri-St. Louis for a 6 pm contest next Thursday (Oct. 7) night.
