(KIRKSVILLE) – Senior Dan Meagher's goal in the 24th minute – just 21 seconds after Quincy took the lead – tied Wednesday afternoon's men's soccer match, and that would be all the day's scoring as the Bulldogs and Hawks battled to a 1-1 draw at the Truman Soccer Park.
Quincy (9-5-1) got on the board early in the 24th minute when Jack Wedemeier slid a shot past Truman (7-2-1) keeper Tyler Knierim. But the lead would be very short-lived for the Hawks, as Meagher found pay-dirt off a Bobby Larkin assist just 21 seconds later to knot the match at one apiece. For Larkin, it was his NCAA-leading 12th assist of the season.
From there, Truman would garner most of the offensive opportunities – hitting two posts and out-shooting QU 21-5 in the second half and overtimes – but the purple and white couldn't sneak another goal past Quincy keeper D.J. Lampert and settled for the draw.
Truman was whistled for 18 fouls to just eight for Quincy and earned seven corner kicks to the Hawks' four.
The Bulldogs will celebrate Senior Day on Sunday at noon against Newman (Kan.) University.
