Women Dominate; Men Fall Short Against Lewis Swimming

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Bulldog women cruised to a 220-126 victory while the men fell in a tight battle 179-165 to Lewis University as the team's wrapped up their two-day dual meet in Romeoville on Saturday.  Truman will compete at the University of Missouri Invitational on Dec. 3rd in Columbia.

The women had five individual event winners on Saturday with Stacey Wymer picking up an NCAA B-Cut time and a season-best mark in the 200 Back.  Wymer touched the wall in 2:08.06.

Stephanie Myers took the 1000 Free in 11:07.97, Casey Jepsen won the 200 Free in 1:57.14, Jessica Jenkot won the 50 Free in 24.90 and Taylor Birsa claimed the 200 Breast in 2:28.44.

In addition, Wymer, Jenkot, Jepsen and Beth Eyanson won the 400 Medley Relay to open the second day of the meet with a time of 4:01.49.

Eyanson also turned in a season best mark in the 200 Fly with a third place finish and a time of 2:13.80.

The men headed into the final day with a one point lead over the Flyers but had just two event winners in the final day.

Matthew Fletcher picked up a season best time in the 400IM with a 4:18.61 swim.  Truman claimed the top four places in the 400IM with Greg Taplin, Jerod Simek and Sam Collier all following Fletcher to the wall.

Taylor Frymire was the other Bulldog victor on Saturday in the 50 Free as he swam 22.51.

Collier turned in an impressive performance in the 1000 Free as he improved on his season best mark by nearly five seconds in his third place showing.  Collier finished the distance race in 10:02.97.

The Bulldogs will compete in their final event prior to the holiday break as they will travel to Columbia, Missouri for Mizzou's Invitational on Friday, Dec. 3rd.
