(CAMDENTON, Mo.) – Senior Chris Kovach finished tied for third as an individual and the Truman men's golf team shaved 11 shots off their first-round total to move up to ninth place at the Lincoln (Mo.) University Invitational at Old Kinderhook Golf Course on Tuesday.
Kovach (St. Louis, Mo., Oakville) followed his first-round 74 with a second-round 72 to finish four-over-par and just one shot back of second place. He earned 7.5 conference points for his efforts in the season-long, four-event race for both MIAA team and individual accolades.
The Bulldogs finished eighth of nine MIAA schools at the event, earning two conference points with one more MIAA event remaining this fall. Following a trip to Iowa Wesleyan in two weeks, Truman will head to St. Joseph for the Missouri Western Invitational, the second points event of the season.
Junior Nik Bentzinger (St. Louis, Mo., Lutheran South) shot a 78 on Tuesday after leading the 'Dogs with a first-round 72 on Monday to finish tied for 12th at eight-over-par.
