(SPRINGFIELD, Mo.) – Despite out-shooting Drury University, 13-9, for the match, the No. 24 Truman men's soccer team couldn't overcome two first-half goals by the host Panthers in a 2-0 road loss on Friday morning.
Drury (3-1) scored in the 10th minute before adding an insurance tally on a penalty kick in the 38th minute to hand Truman (2-2) its second road loss of the season. In what was a physical contest, the Bulldogs and Panthers combined for 29 fouls and six yellow cards.
The Bulldogs did fire 13 shots, but only three were on target, whereas of Drury's nine total shots, seven came on frame. Sophomore keeper
Tyler Knierim (Hartsburg, Mo., Southern Boone) made five saves for the 'Dogs.
Truman will take the weekend and beginning of next week off before returning to action on Friday, Sept. 24, at home against Missouri Science & Technology at 3 pm.
