Men's Golf Finishes Fifth At Fun City Classic

(BURLINGTON, Iowa) – The Truman Men's Golf team fell back to fifth after posting a round of 318 in the final day of the Iowa Wesleyan College Fun City Classic on Tuesday.  Senior Chris Kovach finished fourth after firing a final round 75.

The Bulldogs, who were playing in the final groups of the day, finished the two-day tournament with a 634 team score and were passed by Quincy (633) and Iowa Western (630).

Kovach improved by four shots in the second round to place all alone in fourth and was two shots back of third place.

Viterbo University won the event with a 602 team score and Mike Hesselman won the individual title with a 139 after shooting a three-under par 69 on Tuesday.

Nik Bentzinger finished in the top ten with a tie for ninth after shooting rounds of 79 and 78.  Andy Herington tied for 19th with rounds of 81 and 80 followed by Jeff Wrange in 29th and Alex Key in 34th.

The Bulldogs will next be in action at the Missouri Western Invitational next week in St. Joseph.  It is the final MIAA scoring event of the fall season.
