KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Truman men's soccer team led in both shots and shots on goal, but struggled to find the back of the net as the William Jewell (Mo.) Cardinals went on to shutout the Bulldogs, 1-0 on Tuesday afternoon.
The Cardinals (8-5) found the lead early, with Nathan Seider scoring off a rebounded shot that hit the goal post in the 17th minute. His goal was unassisted and it was his second of the season.
Truman (3-8) put up 21 shots during the contest compared to William Jewell's 14, with seven of those on goal. Starters Andy Chapman (St. Louis, Mo., Fort Zumwalt South) and Dylan Carter (O'Fallon, Mo., Fort Zumwalt West) posted two shots on goal each.
Tyler Knierim (Hartsburg, Mo., Southern Boone) and Drew Garrone (Chesterfield, Mo., Lafayette) saw action in the goal during today's contest, with both of them recording two saves.
Truman will conclude its home schedule and celebrate Senior Day with a match-up against future MIAA member Lindenwood (Mo.) University at 2:00 pm on Sunday, Oct. 16th. The Bulldogs will honor three seniors prior to kick-off of Sunday's match.
