ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The Bulldog swim teams split a dual with Division II newcomer Lindenwood University (Mo.) on Saturday. The men were defeated 162-59 while the women pulled out a 124-99 win in the team's second meet of the season.
Three Bulldog women, Abby Hempen, Jessica Jenkot and Allison Harding, each won two events apiece and the 200 medley relay team of Hempen, Jenkot, Krista Tippin and Krista Tippin were also victorious.
Harding won the 500 free in 5:26.36 and the 1000 in 11:11.05. Hempen took the 200 IM in 2:13.01 and led the Bulldogs to a 1-2-3 finish in the 100 breast, touching the wall in 1:07.83. Jenkot won both sprint events as she finished the 50 free in 25.07 and the 100 free in 55.55.
Tony Hernandez won the 100 breast on the men's side with a time of 58.14 while Jerod Simek cruised to a victory in the 1000 free with a time of 9:51.41. Simek was beat out by just over a second in the 500 by Uba Zavaleta of the Lions.
Etienne Thro was edged out by under a second as well by a pair of Lion swimmers in the 50 free. Thro finished in 22.39.
The Bulldogs will continue their dual meet schedule on Nov. 5th as they travel to Missouri State University in Springfield.
