TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - - Redshirt freshman Mike Carlson had his best performance of the exhibition season for Truman men's basketball, scoring a game-high 14 points and pulling down 11 rebounds for a double-double as the Bulldogs fell 87-33 at Indiana State.
The Sycamores, who won the Missouri Valley Conference and advanced to the NCAA Div. I tournament before bowing out to Syracuse last season, held Truman to just 18% from the field. The Bulldogs' hot three-point shooting, displayed in earlier exhibitions at Missouri State and Missouri, was held to just 3-for-29 on the afternoon with junior Tom Norton hitting a pair. He was one of just six Bulldogs to score in the game, placing behind Carlson, who nabbed six offensive rebounds after leading all players in scoring and rebounding.
Truman, now finished with exhibition play for the 2011-12 season, opens up the regular season at the Abilene Christian Wildcat Classic on Nov.11-12 in Abilene, Texas. The Bulldogs take on host ACU on Nov. 11 before facing Angelo (Texas) State on Nov. 12.
