Jepsen & Hernandez Pick Up Wins In Dual With Missouri State

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Truman swimming teams lost a pair of duals to in-state Division I rival Missouri State on Saturday. The women fell 134-83 with Casey Jepsen picking up the lone event win while Tony Hernandez had a pair of wins in the 134-102 loss to the Bears.

Hernandez won both the 100 Butterfly and 100 Breaststroke for the Bulldogs as he took the fly in 54.26 and the Breaststroke in 59.61.

Close seconds were the theme of the day for both squads as Seth Holbrook had a pair for the men in the 50 and 100 free. Holbrook finished in 22.87 and 51.98 respectively in each event.

The theme carried over in the women's dual as Jessica Jenkot also narrowly finished second in both the 50 free and 100 back. Jenkot swam 25.21 in the free and 1:00.36 in the back. Margaux Kent swam 55.96 in the 100 free and Abby
Hempen touched the wall in 1:07.11 in the 100 Breaststroke.

Casey Jepsen's win came in the 200 free as she swam the event to 1:58.87.

The teams will next compete in their biggest meet in the fall semester as they will head to Chicago for the Phoenix Fall
Classic, hosted at the University of Chicago. The meet will begin on Nov. 17th.
