ST. CHARLES, Mo. - - The Truman swimming teams split a Saturday afternoon dual with Lindenwood University, as the Bulldog women earned a 128-103 win while the Bulldog men fell 179-57.

The Bulldog women were forced to overcome a 26-point deficit due to the diving events and ended up earning a 25-point victory. Casey Jepsen earned a pair of first-place finishes in individual events, swimming a 53.74 in the 100 free and a 1:56.45 in the 200 free. Adrian Rudd finished just one second off her previous career-best in the 400 IM, touching the wall in 4:36.51, while Calia Kingery notched a first-place time of 1:01.78 in the 100 fly. Brynn Guardado was the first finisher in the 500 Free at 5:13.80 as well as the 1000 Free (10:51.52), while both Abby Hempen (1:07.32/100 breast) and Krist Van Oost (1:01.29/100 back) also earned first-place nods.

On the men's side, Tony Hernandez picked up the team's lone individual victory, winning by .01 in the 100 breast with a 59.40.

“Lindenwood is a very good team, and I am very pleased with how our ladies swam on the road,” head coach Ed Pretre said. “On the men's side, I am proud of how our guys went after it against a team that should be a top-10 team instantly when they become Div. II eligible. We still have some things to improve on both sides, but we are headed in the right direction.”

The teams will both be at home next Saturday (Oct. 27) at 1:00 pm for a dual with Div. I-Western Illinois University. Admission is free for the event in the Pershing Natatorium.
