Swim Teams Capture Dual Sweep of WIU

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - - The Truman swimming teams opened the home portion of the 2012-13 schedules with a pair of victories against Div. I Western Illinois on Saturday afternoon in the Pershing Natatorium. The Bulldog women won 186-75, with the Bulldog men earning a 137-125 win.

Both teams experienced a plethora of individual accomplishments, but the big points of the match came in the relays, where the Bulldog women's 400 yard medley relay (Jepsen, Hempen, Kingery, Peterson) picked up a first-place time of 4:09.38, while the Bulldog men's 400 yard medley relay (Hanks, Hernandez, Thro, Morgan) also touched first with a time of 3:35.24.

The Truman 400 yard freestyle women's unit (Rudd, Jepsen, Shanel, Peterson) also earned a double-digit point total with a first-place time of 3:41.11 in one of the meet's final events.

The Bulldog women return to the pool next Friday (Nov. 2) night at another Division I program – Illinois State – while the Bulldog men make their way back to the pool next Saturday (Nov. 3) afternoon by hosting Missouri S&T.
