Bulldog Swimming Opens Season at Mizzou

COLUMBIA, Mo. - - The Truman men's and women's swimming teams opened up the 2012-13 seasons at the University of Missouri Show-Me Showdown, where the Bulldog women placed fourth and the Bulldog men earned a seventh place finish.
 
The event, which featured eight programs from the state of Missouri – Mizzou, Missouri State, Truman, Lindenwood, Drury, William Jewell, Missouri S&T (men only), and Washington University – saw the Bulldogs place multiple personnel in the top-10 of various individual events, headlined by a sixth-place finish by the women's 400 freestyle relay team of Casey Jepsen, Meghan Senne, Abby Hempen and Kristi Van Oost as well as sixth-place finishes in the men's 500 freestyle by Levi Hanks and the 100 breast by Hempen. The women's free relay touched in a time of 3:42.67 while Hanks hit the wall at 4:43.08 with Hempen hitting her time of 1:08.28.
 
Other top finishers on the day included:
·         Etienne Thro's 9th place finish of 52.86 in the 100 fly
·         Casey Jepsen's 10th place finish of 25.25 in the 50 free and 10th place time of 54.32 in the 100 free
·         Brynn Guardado touching 10th in the 500 free at 5:19.29
 
The Bulldogs were recorded with an unofficial time of 1:20.76 in the 200 free relay, although those points did not get counted towards Truman's team score.

The Bulldog women scored 227 points in the event to finish fourth, while the men earned 86 points for a seventh place finish.
 
The Truman squads will be back in action on Oct. 20 for a dual meet at Lindenwood (Mo.) starting at 1:00 pm.
