Women's Tennis Inks Four For 2012-13

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Women's Tennis Coach Pete Kendall has announced the signing of four student-athletes for the 2012-13 roster. Holly Cantalupo from Austin, Texas, Savannah Everett from Colubmia, Mo., Megan Mange from Wildwood, Mo., and Hannah Runez from Whitewater, Wisc. will play for Truman State University next fall.
 
Cantalupo (Austin, Texas/Dripping Springs HS) was a three-year letter winner and varsity team captain her senior season. She was a district doubles champion her sophomore year and as a member of the CATA, a junior tour winner in the 16-year old level and competes in the championship level in the 18-year olds. She is a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society. Holly has a sister Leanne who competed in her first season on the University of Missouri-St. Louis women's tennis team.
 
Everett (Columbia, Mo./Rock Bridge HS) was part of a state championship team in both her senior and junior seasons. Everett placed seventh in the individual state tournament as a junior and third in the doubles tournament as a senior. She is a four-year letter winner in tennis and also played soccer for three seasons. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Tri-Theta, a senior girls' service organization and the Art Honors Association.
 
Runez (Whitewater, Wisc./Whitewater HS) played the top singles position for three seasons and qualified for the Wisconsin Division 2 State Tennis Tournament in both 2010 and 2011 where she placed in the top 16. She helped Whitewater to their first conference title in 26 years in 2011 by placing second at number one singles. Runez is second in career wins at Whitewater with 69 and represented the state in the 2011 Jr USTA Midwest Championships in the girls 16 year-old division. Runez is a two-time all-state selection and was the 2012 class valedictorian by being a member of the National Honor Society, Student Government and Spanish Club.
 
Mange (Wildwood, Mo./Lafayette HS) was a captain and four-year starter on the girls tennis team. She was a district and conference winner her junior season and went undefeated over a two-year stretch during her sophomore and junior campaigns. Mange placed second in the Springfield-Kickapoo Tournament in 2010. She is a National Honor Society member, Key Club and a co-founder for Camp for a Cause.

“All four of these young ladies have had very good high school and USTA careers and all have many years of competition experience,” said Coach Pete Kendall. “All four could be vying for starting positions to replace the graduating seniors next fall.”
